The US is in the middle of the fastest Fed-driven housing slowdown in history.
Yesterday, Apollo Global Management released a new report titled “US Housing Outlook: Housing recovery has started.”
In it, they share several charts that show leading indicators of a rebound in the housing market.
Highlights from the report:
1/ Home buyers and builders are feeling more optimistic.
2/ Offers have started coming in.
3/ Buyers are shopping.
Other interesting data points:
- Median US home sales price: $442K.
- Investors make up 18% of all home purchases — steadily trending up from ~6% in 2001.
- US housing inventory is still very low.
- Home improvement spending is near all-time highs.
