How accurate were Wall Street’s year-end predictions for 2022?
Let’s see…
- The average was 4,900.
- The lowest was 4,400 (Morgan Stanley).
- The highest was 5,300 (BMO).
The S&P 500 would have to rise another 22% by the end of the year to reach the average of the predictions.
While those forecasts had steadily fallen through the year, it shows one thing — the short-term is incredibly difficult to predict. Even the “pros” are bad at it.
