What personal financial decision has positively transformed the way you live?

Investing is only half the game. The other half? Actually having money to invest.

For many, that’s hard to come by in today’s environment. The economy hurts and we feel your pain. We’re in this together.

Here is some of our favorite advice from Redditors:

Switch employers. “Switched employers and doubled my salary. Also increased my salary another 40% in three years since… they keep throwing money at me. Oh they’re good people too which is sweet!”’

Stop impulse purchases. One user removed mainstream social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat. This reduces items/ads shown to you.

Downgrade purchases. “Buying $1 no name chips at Superstore. Changed the chip game forever in our household.”

Never carry a credit card balance, live below your means (keep expenses far below your income) and have an emergency fund.

Improve your earnings potential. “Side hustles and YouTube channels can take a lot of time and effort for not a whole lot of gain.” Instead, pursue a career that pays more.

Pick the right partner. “Getting a spouse that shares my values,” and another user added, “getting rid of one that doesn’t.”
