Biden needs 546K construction workers for his $1.5T spending plan

If you build it, they will come.
Problem is, you can’t build it if there aren’t any workers.
That’s the major issue the US construction industry is facing.
According to the Associated Builders and Contractors, Biden wants to spend $1.5T on the nation’s infrastructure, but the US could be 546K workers short.
And bringing manufacturing back to the US in recent years has only worsened the shortage.
Just how bad is the problem?
- In 2022, construction unemployment was 4.6% — the second lowest ever recorded.
- There was an average of 391K construction job openings in 2022.
- 80% of construction companies are having trouble hiring workers.
Turner Construction’s Senior VP said clean tech construction project demand has quadrupled in the past year.
